This role is designed to help address the perceived disengagement of youth (age 16-24 years) with the Scottish heritage sector. The post holder will utilize existing market intelligence and analogous practice in other more successful sectors of the economy to build this relationship and extend youth ‘buy in’ to heritage. 

This role will involve working with a range of key partners: Historic Environment Scotland (HES), Scottish Tourism Alliance(STA) and Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) to deliver planning and actions that catalyse increased visitation to heritage sites by young people (age 16-24) in Scotland in anticipation of 2018 Year of Young People. This opportunity will seek to build awareness, drive visitation and via imaginative use of social and digital media build the relationship between the youth of Scotland and Heritage sites in Scotland.

This is a full time/fixed term role for 12 months based at the key partners offices including ; Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU)in Glasgow; Scottish Tourism Alliance office in Stirling and Historic Environment Scotland offices in Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will have a good degree in a relevant subject area, the ability to demonstrate experience of marketing using social media and digital media , be a passionate heritage ‘fan’ and someone with the ability to communicate and engage with young people. You will also be required to thrive in a multi-stakeholder environment and have the ability to be goal centred whilst working independently and without direct supervision. Essential criteria for this role will include strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to undertake basic data analysis. 

Linked to this exciting opportunity the role holder will be encouraged to undertake a PhD and publish as an essential part of this post registered at Glasgow Caledonian University. All course fees will be covered in full as part of the employment position.
